Melissa Michaels is a multi-talented entrepreneur, model, author, designer and film producer. She is the insightful author of A Look Within, A Look Within, Volume 1 and A Look Within, Volume II.  When not writing Melissa focuses on her clothing lines, The Original Unity Brand: Inpeloto BodyWear and IBe Wear, in which she designs eco-friendly t-shirts, hoodies, head wraps and limited edition t-shirt purses made from 100% organic cotton, recycled material and bamboo. Inpeloto BodyWear and IBe Wear are clothes with a message with powerful designs that make bold, conscious and positive proclamations: Clothing with a Conscience™.  Inpeloto is an acronym, which stands for: INfinite, PEace, LOve, TOgetherness.  Inpeloto LLC comprises of clothes, jewelry – Inpeloto Bella Jewelry with a Conscience™, music, books and film with more to come.  Melissa is the executive producer for Fiddler in the Darkness which is considered an art-house film, with the premise that art heals and breathes life into the dead.

She has walked the runway, appeared in magazines, television shows, films and commercials, including with some professional athletes including golfer Phil Mickelson and former NBA star LA Laker, Rick Fox.  She appeared in the directorial debut of Academy Award winner, Denzel Washington’s movie, Antwone Fisher.

Melissa is an artist’s artist. Her home is the theater where she has nurtured her voice, perfected dance and honed acting skills.  Taught dance by the legendary choreographer, Jaime Rogers at the Beverly Hills Playhouse who starred in the cultural phenomenon film “West Side Story” and the executive producer of the television show, “Fame.”

She is wildly creative and developed a new dance style called BALOP.  BALOP as she describes it is “A marriage of ballet and hip hop.”  She is collaborating with the multi-platinum selling producer, Chris Cuben to develop a style of music that’s representative of BALOP.

She is a graduate of San Diego State University.  This creative genius belongs to the prestigious community of Poetry Society of America and Academy of American Poets. Her writings are published in several national and international publications as well as anthologized eight times. The International Who’s Who in Poetry featured her as well.

She volunteers her time and donates money to BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country, is an all-volunteer program operating under the auspices of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, the charitable, educational and humanitarian arm of the Screen Actors Guild.  She supports: ARTS: A Reason To Survive, Action Against Hunger, ECOLIFE Foundation, Enough Project and Conservation International.

She received honorable mention on The Wall of Tolerance in Montgomery, Alabama. She won the 2004 DIY Book Festival Award for poetry winning over thousands nationwide.  It was her first book, “A Look Within” which gave her a place in literature and provided her notable recognition.  She received San Diego Magazine’s 2006 Woman of the Year nomination.
